Our Policies
Vote Out The Monopoly.
Competition / Referendum
We will trigger a referendum as soon as possible, giving the community a say on whether the licensing monopoly should continue. While that process unfolds, we will ensure the Trusts remain neutral and do not spend public money campaigning to keep their monopoly.
More Hospo Choice
West Auckland deserves more and better hospitality options. While the Trusts still hold a monopoly, they are obliged to meet community demand. We will push them to do so – with better bars, a greater range of venues, and modernised offerings.
More Community Funding
We will immediately increase community funding from the current $1.5 million to $3 million per year. That’s more money for local clubs, schools, and community groups – without delay.
Fewer Pokies
We will halve the number of pokie machines in Trust venues immediately. As alternative (non-pokie) revenue grows, we’ll continue to reduce this further – keeping overall community funding stable while reducing harm.
Transparency
We will open all board and committee meetings to the public, with closed-door sessions only when truly necessary.
Meetings will be livestreamed and recorded.
Any confidential meeting documents will be proactively released after 12 months by default, unless there’s still a genuine need to keep them private.
Amalgamate the Two Trusts
Currently, we have three boards and 26 board members across two overlapping Trusts. We will reduce this to a single, streamlined board with around 10 members. That means less bureaucracy, more accountability, and clearer leadership.
