Member’s Bill

Repeal of Licensing Trust Monopolies Amendment Bill

Simon Court (an ACT MP based in West Auckland) has lodged the Sale and Supply of Alcohol (Repeal of Licensing Trust Monopolies) Amendment Bill.

The bill proposes to remove the remaining four licensing trust monopolies.

A member’s bill is introduced if it’s drawn from the ballot OR if 61 or more non-executive members support it.

Once introduced, the bill follows the usual parliamentary process and requires majority support in the House to advance.

It would remove the monopolies. Not the Trusts themselves.

Parliament will decide the fate of this bill and visible public support will help convince MP’s.

Help us build that support. Contact us to get involved or simply spread the word with your friends and family and on social media.

You can also email your local MP(s) and tell them why you support competition and ask that they support this bill.
